Christopher J. Schaefer, M.D.
Orthopedic Sports Medicine Surgeon
Chris Schaefer, M.D., is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic sports medicine surgeon specializing in both arthroscopic and open procedures of the knee, shoulder, and hip. His clinical focus includes the treatment of sports-related injuries, with extensive training in fracture care and joint replacement of the knee, shoulder, and hip.
Dr. Schaefer earned his undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Missouri–Columbia before completing his medical degree at the University of Missouri School of Medicine. He went on to complete his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Missouri Orthopaedic Institute and pursued additional subspecialty training through an Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. During his fellowship, he served as a team physician for the Kentucky Wildcats and Georgetown University.
Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Schaefer enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle through running, biking, and playing golf. He values time spent with his wife and two children and, during the fall, can often be found attending football games cheering on the Missouri Tigers and the Kansas City Chiefs.
